About Carpenter Cambridge
My name is Steve Savage a fully qualified Carpenter working around the Cambridge area . I formally trained as a carpenter/joiner at technical college over 30 years ago. Since then I have worked freelance and as part of building teams developing skills, knowledge and experience. Today I work mainly on residential projects. I specialise in bespoke solutions. For example, custom storage in useful places, personalised offices and libraries. I make bespoke windows and doors. I also fit standard kitchens and bathrooms and tile walls and floors. My work is all done to a very high standard. I have many loyal clients in the Cambridge area and I enjoy building long lasting professional relationships. I believe it is vital to spend time with clients to clearly establish what they need and like. I will make suggestions and once we have settled upon a plan and a price, I carefully prepare drawings to work from. It takes a bit longer at the beginning but the result is worth the extra effort!

My client was adapting a small house into 2 units for letting. It needed to be practical, hard wearing, stylish, simple to use and easy to clean. The quality needed to be high for both appearance and durability.
I removed and replaced one shower room upstairs and tiled it throughout in marble effect porcelain. I added another smaller shower room downstairs in the same style. We fitted two stainless kitchenettes, and created a lounge/diner on each floor. Both flats were then completely redecorated and have been fully occupied ever since.
My client had a small guest bedroom in which she wanted some occasional clothes storage. A conventional wardrobe was too imposing and made the room seem smaller. I designed an open frame hanging space with shelves. We chose an informal 'upcycled' style to suit the style of the house and i adapted scaffolding planks to create a made to measure piece.
My client is a professional writer. She lives in an old listed house and lacked storage. Her office was distracting and disorderly. We discussed what she needed and where. I designed, built and painted a space for her to work in. She has good light and a beautiful view by the window. She now has everything to hand and it is easy to keep tidy.
This client had a catastrophic flood and used the opportunity to finally create the kitchen of his dreams... This involved removing a dividing partition, opening up and reconfiguring the space. We designed a new lighting scheme and also fitted new units, appliances and worktops throughout. Finally the floor was tiled in porcelain. The kitchen is now the hub of the house and the client wished he had had the flood years ago!
